Worried about getting your pet to the vet during these times? Hello Video Consulting!

Worried about getting your pet to the vet during these times? Hello Video Consulting!

We are here for you and your fur family!

Whilst there are many benefits of video consulting, now more than ever they serve a great purpose of helping keep all family members safe and well (furry or otherwise!).

They can be very useful for pets that get scared or stressed coming to the clinic. They are also great if you are at home with children or need to get work done.

But with the COVID-19 situation as it is in Australia, it is possible that consultations will be restricted in the future. Rest assured we will still be here for you and your pet. Dr. Seina and Dr. Ashleigh will be performing video consults 6 days a week (in addition to in clinic consultations) to ensure that your pet doesn’t have to miss out on being seen or treated. We couldn’t bear the thought of not helping you or your furbuby.

Video consults can be extremely convenient for both you and your pet. They may not be appropriate for all things, however they can be very useful in certain situations e.g. medication re-checks, some revisits, post surgical checks, wound assessment,  some lumps, behavioural advice and gastrointestinal upsets just to name a few.

This affordable option is risk free, should your pet need to visit the clinic for further assessment the standard consultation fee will not apply as a result of this consultation.

We hope this helps you all during these tough and uncertain times, we are thinking of you all. See below for how it works and please email the clinic with any questions.

1) Go to our website, click the 'Book Online' button and the click on 'Book Video Consultation' button. Please have a read of the terms and conditions.

2) Choose what type of appointment you require - standard video, standard phone, revisit video,  extended behaviour video or post operative video consultation.

3) Choose a time that suits on the booking calendar

4) Pay via the secure payment portal

5) An email confirmation with a link to the video consultation will be sent to you

6) We recommend the use of a smart phone where possible as it makes it easier to switch between front and back cameras to get a good look at the pet (you can also use a laptop or iPad).  We recommend using Chrome browser.

7) If the pet is a patient of  Thornbury Vet Hospital and has been seen in the last 12 months (and as such has a veterinary client-patient relationship), any medications that are deemed appropriate are able to be dispensed and picked up from the clinic.

8) If the vet determines that they need a hands on assessment to be able to help you, then please make a booking with the clinic.  Once at the clinic you will not be charged a second consultation fee, however depending on findings there may be additional costs e.g. medications, diagnostic tests (e.g. blood or urine tests) or services.
